About the pins and the names. Each marker is a reference point, not the launch spot — usually the nearest car park, reserve entrance or road end, so it can sit 100–300 m from where you'll actually stand. Names are the official or most widely used name for the place; local signage, iwi names and some map apps differ, and a few spots go by more than one name. Navigate to the pin, then walk the last bit.
